10 Incoming Marvel NOW Comics You Won't Want To Miss
4. CAGE! - Genndy Tartakovsky
If the name Genndy Tartakovsky rings a bell, then it's for a good reason. The writer/animator/director has been behind such iconic cartoon shows as Samurai Jack, Dexter's Laboratory, and the short-lived Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series that ran from 2003 to 2005.
Considering just how universally adored all those projects are, it goes without saying that you should be paying attention to what he has planned next.
The thing that makes this release even more special is the fact we've been waiting years for it to drop. And while it technically isn't under the Marvel Now! banner, that doesn't negate the fact it's one of this season's hottest releases.
But why Luke Cage? What drew Tartakovsky towards the character? Well, according to Tartakovsky, he's always been fascinated by Harlem's Hero for Hire.
In comments made to BirthMoviesDeath, Tartakovsky explains that he "liked the idea of a down and out hero scrapping for work, love, and just trying to survive." The '70s setting is certain to appeal as well, as the writer crafts his tale in an area far away from the current continuity constraints of the Marvel Universe. Count me in.
