10 Judge Dredd Comics You Must Read Before You Die
3. The Cursed Earth Saga
The second ever extended story to feature Judge Dredd, The Cursed Earth Saga would not only add a lot of background to Mega-City One, but showed that Old Joe could easily be relied upon to hold his own.
Mega-City Two finds itself under threat from a violent plague that turns its victims into flesh-hungry monsters. Normally this would be seen as their problem, and they would be left to their own devices, but when the pathogen finds it way into Dredd's city, he sets out on a quest to bring the medical supplies they need to combat it.
Traveling the Cursed Earth is something no-one wants to do but Dredd does it anyway, and along the way will battle a T-Rex, the last President of the United States, as well as a never-ending horde of mutants.
It's a well written, well thought through story well worth anybody's time, but the fact that it was mired in controversy on its release makes it essential.
It seems that the likes of Burger King and McDonald's didn't take too kindly to uses of their trademarks without permission, especially as one scene has Ronald execute someone for spilling a milkshake. That's worth the price of admission alone.
