10 Massively Underrated DC Villains

10. The Wrath

Part of what makes Batman so interesting is his pathological dedication to fighting crime. While villains like the Joker and Ra's al Ghul have acted as a warped mirror to the Dark Knight, no other character has embraced the concept of being the "anti-Batman" as much as the Wrath.

The original Wrath was an unnamed man whose origin story was the opposite of Bruce Wayne's. After his parents were shot to death by a young police officer who mistook them for burglars, he swore revenge on all of law-enforcement and spent his life training to be a master assassin.

Much like Batman, he then took up a masked identity and dedicated himself to "punishing" police officers as the Wrath. He came into conflict with Batman when he tried to kill the man who shot his parents, Commissioner James Gordon.

What makes the Wrath so formidable is that he's not just a physical and mental match for Batman, but is also as equally dedicated to his cause as the Dark Knight. Before his death, Wrath managed to work out Bruce's identity, hospitalise Alfred and kidnap Doctor Leslie Thompson.

Wrath fell from a rooftop and died in his final battle with Batman, but his legacy lived on. He had brainwashed and trained a young man called Elliot Caldwell to one day replace him as a twisted take on Robin.
