10. House Of M - 2005

Forever renowned as the series that legitimately got rid of mutants, House of M managed what, prior to this, would have been considered entirely impossible, by wiping out countless characters' superpowers.

After being driven to her breaking point by an argument with her father, Scarlet Witch uses her immense powers to completely modify the universe by removing the powers of every single mutant. While those well-versed in comics will have instinctively believed it was a move that would be changed back eventually, it actually remained a permanent fixture of the marvel universe for some time, with only 23 mutants having been re-powered by 2013 - some eight years later.

Although recent storylines have since reverted the changes enacted by House of M, it will remain iconic in Marvel history as perhaps the biggest change Marvel signed off on in recent history.
