Witchblade is proof that there is a very thin line between comics and pornography. Coming out of the comics boom of '90s, Witchblade is a supernatural horror book that follows the adventures of Sara Pezzini, a New York City detective who bonds with an ancient supernatural sentient gauntlet called the Witchblade. The Witchblade is an ancient artefact that specifically bonds with a female host. And when this sentient gauntlet attaches itself to a host, it apparently strips each of them of their clothes. All you have to do is turn on an episode of Law And Order: SVU to realise that New York detectives dont dress like Sara Pezzini. Dont think for one moment that Sara was the only one who has had to endure the perpetual nudeness of the Witchblade. When Danielle Baptiste, a young ballet dancer from New Orleans, inherited the Witchblade for a while, she too was forced to trounce around mostly nude as well. The sad thing about Witchblade is that their shocking attempts to objectify and sexualise their female characters actually arent that sexy. Rather, these illustrations look rather creepy. Who would want someone with an arm like that touching their junk? No thanks.
