10 Oldest Mutants In X-Men History

Old Man Logan is pretty old, but he's got nothing on some of the other mutants in Marvel Comics.

There are more mutant powers in the world of Marvel than you could imagine. There are superbeings who can read minds, fly, teleport, and turn into banana split ice cream. (Yeah, that guy really drew the short straw.)

But one of the most interesting powers that some homo superiors harbour is decelerated ageing, which allows one to live far beyond regular humans. Wolverine is the most famous mutant with this ability, since he's the only X-Man older than your great-great-great-great-great grandfather.

However, the Ol' Canucklehead is a spring chicken compared to other children of the atom. Because mutants have only become common knowledge in the last few decades in the world of Marvel, many people assume they've only been around for a century or two.

But they haven't. There are some who redefine the word "elderly". We're talking about mutants who've witnessed the foundation and collapse of a dozen civilisations. For some, the phrase "older than the hills" is not a mere expression. And there are rumours that one or two mutants are so ancient, they predate all of human society.

But the big question is, which mutant has been around the longest?

10. Old Man Logan (Wolverine) - 190+ Years

Born in an aristocratic family in Canada during the 1880s, James Howlett was a happy child until his stepfather was murdered by his real dad, Thomas Logan. This trauma triggered James' mutation, causing him to impale his father with his newly sprouted bone claws. Wolverine's start in life was so horrific, you'd safely assume he would never go through anything worse.

Sadly, Logan's life has been marked by nothing but tragedy. After living for over a century, Wolvie has lost more loved ones than probably anyone in the Marvel universe - some by his own hand.

Because the Canadian superhero was born at the turn of the 19th century, that would make him at least 140 years old. But in recent years, the comics have followed Old Man Logan, a Wolverine from a parallel universe that takes place 50 years in the future, meaning he's nearly two centuries old.

After this incarnation of Logan was transported to the regular Marvel universe and timeline, he did everything in his power to stop his apocalyptic future from happening. When he realised he was in a different past, Logan decided to hang around to help the X-Men in their mission for world peace.
