Frank went through a pretty bad phase during the Seventies. As if trying to kill Spider-Man on his first outing wasn't enough, The Punisher came back to cause trouble during Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man.

Issue #82 opens up with a typical monologue as we follow Castle across the city. Yet even for this murder hungry anti-villain, what he does next is extreme. While on patrol, he comes across an incidence of domestic violence and intervenes by shooting the husband through their window.

He leaves without killing the man, which is already out of character for him, but his next target is even stranger.

A couple are walking out in the rain, holding newspaper over their heads to stay dry. When the newspaper becomes saturated, they put the it in the trash can, but miss the opening. As the couple walk away, with the paper on the floor next to the bin, The Punisher rears his head.
