10 Reasons To Celebrate The Superior Spider-Man

10. It Established Giuseppe Camuncoli As A Top Artist

When the series launched in January, 2013, Superior Spider-Man featured a rotating art team of three artists with various pedigrees and degrees of popularity: Humberto Ramos, the established vet who had been penciling the Web Slinger since the early 2000s; Ryan Stegman, the rising star who had been compared by some to industry phenom Todd McFarlane; and Giuseppe Camuncoli, a steady, but unspectacular penciler who did not have a true €œnote worthy€ comic book run to his name. Superior provided Camuncoli with an opportunity to flex his artistic muscles. Some of his early work on the series produced some very impressive splash pages and spreads, and his pencils throughout the five-part €œGoblin Nation€ arc to close out the book have been nothing short of revelatory. Many of €œGoblin Nation€™s€ flashback sequences allowed Camuncoli to reference classic moments of Spidey history, with some modern touches and embellishments. One has to think that Camuncoli€™s stock has risen considerably after the past 16 months.
