10 Strangest Jack Kirby Creations

By Alec Belmore /

1. Turbo-Teen

Perhaps the strangest Kirby creation occurred during one of his few bouts into animation. Turbo-Teen was a show that ran thirteen episodes from 1984 to 1985 on ABC. The designs for the Turbo-Teen were sketched by none other than the Kirby himself. The series follows teenager Brett Matthews, who crashes his sports car into a government facility during a thunderstorm. He collides with a machine that merges him with his vehicle, enabling him to transform into a car and thus turning him into a Turbo-Teen. As if being a kid that can change into a car wasn€™t lame enough, Brett has a rather inconvenient catch to his power. He can only turn into a vehicle-person hybrid when exposed to extreme heat, and can only revert back to being only human under conditions of extreme cold. Also, it€™s got to be extremely uncomfortable having your appendages magically replaced by wheels.
