10. Captain America

It's been all over the news recently that Marvel's greatest hero has become its greatest villain.

For a little while, Captain America had been out of the superhero game. The Super-Soldier Serum in Steve Roger's body had finally ran out, leaving him an old man and forcing him to retire. However, during the events of 'Avengers: Standoff!' his youth was restored by the all-powerful Cosmic Cube, which had taken on the form of a little girl named Kobik. Unfortunately, Kobik had been corrupted by the Red Skull and she also rewrote Steve's entire history, turning him into a deep cover agent for Hydra.

Cap revealed his new allegiance in a shocking fashion, giving a hearty "Hail Hydra" after pushing his ally Jack Flag out of an aeroplane. He then set about initiating a shadowy master plan, wrestling control of Hydra away from the Red Skull and setting up pieces for his endgame, which will be seen in the upcoming event 'Secret Empire'.

The idea of an evil Captain America is an interesting one, subverting the ideals he stands for and hitting his friends with a betrayal from the last person they'd expect.
