10 Things DC Wants You To Forget About Aquaman
Remember the walrus sidekick? No, of course you wouldn't.
His feature debut is still a good year off, but the first image of Game Of Thrones actor Jason Momoa as Aquaman just dropped and... it's had a mixed reaction to say the least. Zack Snyder is on record as being a big fan of the character, the director of the upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice even went so far as to ring into a radio show chatting breeze about the DC superhero, to defend the sea-based superhero's honour. There is a lot that needs defending, to be fair. Momoa looks pretty cool in that first image, in a very non-traditional take on the character that owes more to Khal Drogo than Arthur Curry. Yes, Arthur Curry is Aquaman's real name. That is just one of the things that DC probably wants you to forget about Aquaman. In fact, if Aquaman has any lasting cultural influence at all it was in the cheesy seventies cartoon Super-Friends, where he was remarkably ineffectual. That is not the character Zack Snyder wants in his film. That is not the character that DC or Warner Bros will be betting the big bucks on. That is the character with the silly Achilles heel, the weird sidekick, and the remarkably odd back story. Here are ten things DC wants you to forget about Aquaman.
