10 Things Everyone Always Gets Wrong About Captain America

10. Howard Stark Created Cap's Shield

It's pretty clear where Steve Rogers got his iconic shield in the movies. Howard Stark cobbled together all of the Vibranium known to exist in the world and fashioned it into a shield for the First Avenger, but that's not how it went down in the comics.

When Cap got his Vibranium shield in the comics, it was a much bigger deal than what was shown on the silver screen. Instead of someone just handing it to him as part of his accession to become the first Super Soldier, he had to go on some adventures first.

With his kid sidekick Bucky Barnes, Captain America traveled about the globe for some time before he received his shield, but it wasn't from some scientist, it was from the President of the United States himself!

That's right, Franklin Delano Roosevelt presented Captain America with his iconic shield back in the day. To be clear, he used a different shield up to that point, but it wasn't a disc-shaped shield and it wasn't made of Vibranium. That shield was given to Cap in Captain America #255 by FDR, and it has remained pretty much the same ever since.
