Most comic book fans assume that Spider-Man is a beacon of morality who never compromises on his mantra, €œwith great power must also come great responsibility.€ And they would be mostly right.

But Spider-Man has killed, and in some cases, he has killed intentionally. In an early issue of Marvel Team-Up, Spidey accidentally kills the villain Moondark when he knocks him through a portal that drops him from the top of the Golden Gate Bridge into the water below. Accident or not, Spidey jokes, €œ"Even I can€™t hang around cryin'€™ over spilt magicians."

In the Spider-Man vs. Wolverine original graphic novel, Spidey inadvertently kills Wolverine'€™s friend Charlie by brutally punching her in the face. Spider-Man thinks Charlie is actually Wolverine trying to sneak up on him, which is why he punches her, but one would hope a superhero with Spider Sense would be a little more responsible in how he goes about throwing haymakers.

At least in the case of Charlie, Spider-Man feels a tremendous amount of guilt and remorse for his actions. So the next time Spider-Man goes around telling his supporting cast €œNo One Dies,€ someone can tell him to stop being such a friendly neighborhood hypocrite.
