10 Weird Moments You Forgot Happened In Iconic Comics
10. Magneto Makes Out With Wasp
The 12-part series, Secret Wars is probably the most famous Marvel crossover story. This comic debuted Battleworld, The Beyonder, Titania, the second Spider-Woman, and the Alien Costume, which eventually became the Spider-Man villain, Venom. This was also the first crossover to showcase James Rhodes as Iron Man instead of Tony Stark. On top of that, Secret Wars was the first comic to clearly show Doctor Doom without his mask since he became a supervillain.
So many things happened in this story, most readers completely forget that Magneto hooked up with the Avenger, Janet Van Dyne, who is better-known as the Wasp. Although they are enemies, the Master of Magnetism calls for a truce and tries to put the moves on Wasp. What makes his seduction so odd is Magneto has never been seen acting romantically since the death of his wife many years prior.
Since becoming Magneto, his only ambition was to create a world where mutants were in charge. But for some reason, the first time he has ever shown affection since becoming the X-Men's arch-nemesis was during a cosmic battle with an inter-dimensional entity. Mags... you really need to learn to pick your moments.
What makes this stranger is that Wasp seems to be won over by Magneto's advances and kisses him. It is later revealed that she only pretended to be interested in Magneto to learn of his true intentions. This moment is probably forgotten by Marvel fans because it had no lasting impact on the characters and is almost never referenced. Nevertheless, it does seem like a weird moment in an otherwise iconic story.
