10 Zany Comic Book Movies That Would Send Fans Wild

10. Squirrel Girl

When creating new comic book characters, writers often turn to the animal kingdom for inspiration: Spider-Man, Batman, Ant-Man... all have been hugely successful over the years and each have movies slated for release in the near future. Now is the perfect time to introduce a new hero based on one of the most fearsome creatures the world has ever seen...

Squirrel Girl may seem ridiculous, but underestimate her at your peril. With a prehensile tail, retractable knuckle spikes and the mutant ability to communicate with squirrels, Doreen Green has single-handedly defeated major players including Thanos and Doctor Doom. Pretty impressive for someone who has the powers of a cute rodent...

After her first victory, Iron Man considered taking Squirrel Girl on as a sidekick, but felt that she was too young to fight crime. Soon after, the buck toothed heroine joined the Great Lakes Avengers, a team of mutant misfits who may be one of the most bizarre groups to ever appear in a mainstream comic, featuring members such as Big Bertha and Flatman.

Marvel Studios have always injected plenty of humor into their movies and with the upcoming release of Ant-Man, the company are finally taking the plunge and producing an actual superhero comedy. The likely success of this move could pave the way for films starring characters like Squirrel Girl. Why not introduce her initially with a small cameo role in Avengers 3, before allowing her to strike out solo with only her squirrel sidekick Monkey Joe for company? Ideally, Marvel could then introduce other members of the Great Lakes Avengers in solo movies, eventually building towards a cataclysmic yet utterly bizarre event that forces the heroes to unite against one common threat.

We're thinking maybe Stilt Man and Paste-Pot Pete go on a miniature rampage in downtown New York City...
