2. Garth Ennis Back On Punisher

Marvel Comics

Ask any hardcore Punisher fan what their favourite run on the character is, and they'll probably extol the greatness of Punisher Max - a series written and drawn by Garth Ennis and and the late Steve Dillon respectively.

One particular story from that series, which didn't have Dillon on art duties, was Born - an arc that focused on Frank Castle's days in Vietnam. It was a massive hit, and encouraged a collective reappraisal of the character's origins and in particular his relationship with violence. Now - in 2017 - we'll finally be getting a follow-up: The Platoon.

Ennis is this time joined by Goran Parlov - his collaborator on the original story - in a series that will explore the months leading up to the Valley Forge incident. That's pretty exciting even if you're not a Punisher fan, especially since it's been a little over eight years since Ennis was last able to write Frank Castle, and particularly so, given the high regard in which Born is commonly discussed.
