9. Hulk

The Hulk has always been a wrecking machine, wearing the tattered remnants of an outfit rather than proper superhero gear. Unless he was changing color or wearing a suit like Joe Fix-It, his costume remained static: the purple pants.

That is, of course, until the Planet Hulk arc, when he adopted the armor and look of a gladiator as he battled his way toward the Red King and domination of the alien planet to which he was exiled.

Suddenly, Hulk was more than a big green mayhem machine. He was a warrior, an icon, someone for people to rally around, to follow, and to be inspired by. He wasn't simply a force of nature, he was a leader, someone to be reckoned with, rather than just something.
