Walter Moers' version of Hitler emerges from the sewers some decades after the fall of the Third Reich to find a modern world that leaves him flummoxed, more likely to declare war on his Tamagotchi than on Poland. With a vulnerable, Chaplinesque frown, Adolf is more like such cartoon everymen as Charlie Brown or Opus than a hate-mongering super-villain.
