Most of the weird ads you got in old comics were about getting kids to send their money to shady PO boxes out-of-state owned by one scam artist with a warehouse full of tents. Grit, meanwhile, positioned itself as a get-rich-quick scheme pitched at the same audience. Which, actually, was kind of also just ripping them off. Grit was an actual weekly newspaper for farmers. Which meant they were expecting kids to walk across farms and deliver terrible papers to farmers and demand pay or prizes!
