Once upon a time, there was this thing called the Comics Code Athority, which pretty much censored any and all inappropriate content out of comic books. Then in the 70s, with the rise of recreational drugs, the Comics Code was relaxed, allowing writers to portray the dangers of drug use. Green Lantern Green Arrow was a groundbreaking series during the Bronze Age of Comics, where comic books began to tackle social issues in a very real and direct way. This famous issue of Green Lantern Green Arrow revealed that Speedy (Roy Harper), Green Arrows protégé, was in fact addicted to heroin. This was a radical cover for its day, showing the gruesome details of Roy shooting up.
