Then in the €˜70s, with the rise of recreational drugs, the Comics Code was relaxed, allowing writers to portray the dangers of drug use. Green Lantern Green Arrow was a groundbreaking series during the Bronze Age of Comics, where comic books began to tackle social issues in a very real and direct way. This famous issue of Green Lantern Green Arrow revealed that Speedy (Roy Harper), Green Arrow€™s protégé, was in fact addicted to heroin. This was a radical cover for its day, showing the gruesome details of Roy shooting up.
