20 Most Controversial Comics Covers Of All Time

By Bryant Lucas /

8. Adventure Comics #415

This cover pretty much sums up everything wrong with the attitude comics can take with women, as Adventure Comics #415 is one of the most sexist covers in comic book history. First, there is the obvious issue of Supergirl being dragged by the hair, unconscious. If that doesn€™t scream of barbaric sexism indicative of prehistoric cavemen, then nothing does. Second, things are only made worse, as Supergirl is apparently being hauled to a non-consensual marriage ceremony. Supergirl has no agency and is displayed as nothing more than a prop in this image The crazy thing is that Adventure Comics #415 was released in 1972; how were there not feminists rioting in the streets?!
