19. Wonder Woman #178

Controversial for rather unusual reasons, Wonder Woman #178 marks a major shift for the character. Published in 1968, comic legend Denny O€™Neal began his run on the character by stripping her of her powers and turning her into a spy. This cover is particularly controversial, as it displays Wonder Woman rejecting her previous costume as well as her previous, conservative secret identity. Rather, Wonder Woman apparently not only embraced her new life as a spy but also the women€™s liberation movement, with a new trendy €˜60s design.
