5 Comics Worth Reading This Weekend (23rd October)

Time for something supernatural...

This week has had an onslaught of comics from the ‘Big Two’ and, although some are very, very good, following the entire line of comics coming out every month is just not a viable option for most people. So, with that in mind, you’ll find just one issue from Marvel and DC this week. The others come from ‘smaller’ publishers who are putting out runs that are definitely worth checking out this week or even jumping on the wagon and seeing them through to the end.

There’s an interesting ‘psychedelic’ vein running through this week’s selection too, for some reason. It could be growing trend in the industry or just a growing trend in this writer’s increasingly broken mind. Either way, there’s a lot of good stuff in here.

Hopefully you’ll enjoy the list, you’ll learn something new and you’ll be set on your way to discovering your next favourite comic.

Now's another great week to read comics...

5. The Adventures Of Augusta Wind #3

Worth Reading For: If you have a yearning for the dreamlike artwork of classic “Sandman”

Augusta Wind is on a mission to save story itself. Born on ‘Nowhere Island,’ the home of ‘The Tellers,’ Augusta Wind is one of those ‘children’ whose limitless imagination gives form to all stories, including the one you’re in now. But when Augusta and her friends encounter ‘The Story Killer,’ hell-bent on destroying all stories, they realise his/her motivations for kidnapping the other ‘Tellers’ are not what they seemed.

Part of IDW’s ‘Creator Visions’ event, which set out to showcase five brand new stories, which includes the “The Last Story,” the concluding event of “The Adventures of August Wind” which began back in 2012. Although it’s not a new title, readers won’t be sorry if they jump in at #1.
