Image Comics has been releasing some of the best comics around. Sure, the Big 2 are still dominating the market, but you've got some big titles at Image. And it isn't just about sales or marketable IP (though The Walking Dead is definitely both). It's that Image is telling some of the best stories in comics. Check out some great outgoing titles like the critical and commercial favorite Saga, the wonderfully subversive and over the top The Manhattan Projects, or the incredibly imaginative, sweet, and sensitive take on the Peter Pan story Peter Panzerfaust. These are all titles that are doing things markedly different from anything that the two mainstream companies are doing, but they have just as much appeal to readers. Further, they are the kinds of books that people who aren't comics fans can get into. The last few months of 2013 saw Image releasing a lot of new titles. The following list could have been much longer because of the high quality and number of new titles. Heck, I'd have you read pretty much all the Image titles, it was tough narrowing this list down. What you'll observe from this list is that Image is giving writers a place to explore great new ideas. These are fun concepts that play around in a number of genres. These are the kinds of titles that you wouldn't see from the Big 2, but that also might not fit into the indie comics/graphic novel spaces. So Image is providing a vital space for stories like this to be told. And we readers are all the luckier that these books are coming out. Consider putting these titles on your pull list as part of your New Year's resolutions.
