What? Another comic book to spend money on? Well, yes, but it's definitely worth it as it certainly helps represent more of the strengths of the main series. 'Avenging Spider-Man' was introduced as a monthly book alongside 'Amazing Spider-Man' in November 2011 and effectively served as a series of tie-in issues. In the first year of the book each month saw Peter Parker's Spider-Man team up with a number of members of The Avengers for one-0ff events. After Peter's demise and Otto's takeover of his identity, 'Avenging Spider-Man' continued and allowed us a few early opportunities to see how Octavius' Spider-Man would work (or not) with some of Marvel's other heroes. Early highlights here included a fantastically tense showdown with Wolverine and the X-Men. Since those early issues, though, 'Avenging' started to really explore Otto's dealing with his own history and has had him encounter and defeat several of his former allies from the 'Sinister Six'. As if these battles weren't interesting enough, Otto has also been capturing and collecting these old friends for a currently unknown purpose. This potential Sinister Six reunion is intriguing, and is definitely a story that could be worthy of a jump to the big leagues of the main 'Superior' series. If this doesn't happen, however, it's likely that this promising story could continue in the replacement title 'Superior Spider-Man Team Up' after 'Avenging' ends in July this year. Wherever the story goes, it's full of promise and potential and is definitely unique enough to be considered one of the major highlights of Otto Octavius' turn as the wall crawler...
