6 Reasons Why Dark Nights: Metal #1 Rocks

3. It Doesn't Involve A Beloved Character Going Bad

The story is not another story about what if such and such and so and so broke bad.

Instead of going the Marvel route and writing a 'Dark Crisis' of what if Batman went wrong, we get a stadium concert of an event that aims big and aims to surprise, and still have the emotional heart of the beloved characters intact.

Batman doesn't break bad - instead we're going to see his nightmares, the things that make Batman scared about himself and about what the Bat could be.

So no, thankfully, no one in Metal becomes a fascist with dreams of becoming a totalitarian in an effort to 'do the right thing' and everyone gets to be themselves. And that is awesome.
