7 Things You Didn't Know About Marvel's SECRET Infinity Stone
7. Where Did The Infinity Stones Come From?
The creator of The Infinity Stones was first mentioned in the underrated two-part series, The Thanos Quest, which is the prequel to The Infinity Gauntlet six-part story. (It is also worth mentioning that this was the first story where the six artefacts were referred to as Infinity Gems. Before that, they were only known as Soul Gems.)
Thanos describes the creator of the Stones as such: "They were once a single unit, a lone entity. They were a sentient being of limitless power. At the time, this being was the only living thing that existed with any and all realities".
Since nothing existed in the universe except for this being, it grew unbearably lonely and destroyed itself. The remnants of its powers were collected into seven small ingots called Infinity Stones. However, one was lost in another universe and no one knew of its existence for eons.
Although the entity that created them is called Nemesis, Thanos believes it should be called God since no other title would match its power. Despite the fact Nemesis is depicted as female in future comics, Thanos imagines it as male when he details its backstory.
