DC and Marvel have long held a majority share in the comic book industry, although the digital marketplace hasn't allowed them to dominate as thoroughly as they often have in print. Nevertheless, DC often follows Marvel's lead when it sees a sales gimmick work, and such a gimmick can then become industry practice. After DC, others usually follow suit. The question is, will this move be the kind of dramatic success that changes the business?
