Deadpool finishes the job of eliminating all of the Marvel characters, good and evil. We've seen the fall of Avengers and now it's the X-Men's turn as well as the Punisher and pretty much anyone else who wants to come to the party. Issue#3 of this four issue miniseries focuses on the torture of Charles Xavier but not before his beloved children of the atom are wiped out in the usual Deadpool straight to the point approach. Someone gets their head blowed up (a tradition that seems to flow through all of these issues) and Deadpool takes on Wolverine (again! - remember Wade had killed Logan as an Avenger already). Deadpool seems to be an unstoppable killing machine and when issue #4 rolls around and Taskmaster (still hot on Deadpool's trail but not quite there yet) discovers Wade literally wants to bring down each and every reality there is, this miniseries is on it's way to the finish line. Mass suicides, civil wars and even the media aren't enough to stop The Punisher from trying to take down Deadpool and the pair face off in a way that not only undermines The Punisher's tactics but his personal writing as well. "Dear Diary... Err... I mean Dear War Journal" - Great stuff! Deadpool shows no signs of slowing down his killing spree and even though this final issue does feel a little rushed, missing out huge chunks of Deadpool killing Silver Surfer and the Marvel space based characters for the sake of wrapping things up, we still get what we want. Deadpool vs. Taskmaster. It's a mean old scrap and ultimately gets us down to the last Marvelite left to help Deadpool jump realities and head to our own. This miniseries has been a blast. It's celebrated Deadpool in the wackiest of ways and in a time where Marvel have characters fighting amongst themselves every month it was great to see a Wade Wilson teach them all a lesson in ways only he can. The series ends how it began, with a wacky spin on what we know about alternate Marvel realities. It's fun, weird and really the only way the four parter could end really. I really hope Cullen Bunn find ways to play with this premise again someday, whether with Deadpool or maybe even other characters but given how thorough an ass kicking Deadpool gave to the Marvel Universe here, it'll take some doing. Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe ending up doing exactly what it said it would do on the covers and and as a bit of escapist fun (as well as a guilty pleasure) this miniseries could very well end up being a Marvel highlight of the year.
