Everything You Need To Know About DCeased

What's the deal with DC's new Zombie event?

By Fergal Harte /

To most, a new zombie story probably sounds really quite dull - especially one involving superheroes - as such a story is effectively mashing two of the most overdone genres into one title, and since when has that ever worked?

Yet, this particular mash-up seems to be an anomaly in what one would think would be a formula designed for failure, as the team of Tom Taylor, Trevor Hairsine, Stefano Gaudiano, Rain Beredo, James Harren and Saida Temofonte have managed to craft an incredibly compelling tale - even only two issues in.

The title has clearly captured the imagination of readers across the world, due to how it is currently the best selling comic on the market and the second best selling overall this year, with only Detective comics #1000 managing to outsell it.

It's dark, twisted, and a strong repudiation of the idea that zombies are over now - at least when it comes to comics.

But vague assurances about the quality of the plot won't get anyone to read anything, so here are some actual details on what you need to know about DCeased and why you should definitely be reading it.

5. The Roster Is Really Varied

While most books of this ilk will focus on the biggest hitters of their respective universes, DCeased brings in some lesser known heroes too.

The ones who have featured in the main line-up so far include Superman and his family, Damian Wayne, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Cyborg, Black Canary and more - a roster that most would agree is quite the varied one.

The old guard are definitely present, but Taylor and co. bring in a host of slightly lesser known characters alongside them, their added presence creating more of a unique dichotomy that really allows for readers to simultaneously learn about heroes they might not have originally, while experiencing a far more fresh and interesting tale.

Sure, Batman is great and all, but he isn't the only character on DC's utility belt. DCeased is aware of that and then some.
