If you thought the original 1963 version of The Avengers was old school, think again.

Marvel Legacy #1 is about to introduce us to an iteration of the superhero team dating back to 1,000,000 BC - you have to wonder how much crime there was to fight in the Early Pleistocene period.

This promises to be the most powerful Avengers lineup yet, comprising deities, extra-dimensional entities, supernatural beings and earlier versions of Marvel favourites.

Our team roster includes Agamotto, Odin, Iron Fist, Black Panther, Ghost Rider, Phoenix and Star Brand - can you imagine how big the threat would have to be to bring these heavy hitters together?

While the likes of Odin and Ghost Rider have been around since the dawn of time, Marvel Legacy writer Jason Aaron might have to dabble in some light retconning to explain why there's a Black Panther in 1,000,000 BC.

Marvel's executive editor Tom Brevoort describes the one-shot as the catalyst to "a bevy of mysteries, secrets, and revelations that will reverberate across the Marvel Universe in the weeks and months to come." Intriguing!
