5. Grant Morrison Announced Two Amazing Stories

DC Comics

Grant Morrison is just fantastic, so it's always great to see him pop up at an event like comic con as a surprise. This year he got to announce two new titles (and throw some shade at the New 52), both sequels; one to last year's Wonder Woman Earth One, and another to the equally batty Arkham Asylum, situated within the #666 continuity no less (meaning we get Damian as Batman again).

Morrison has to be one of the most inventive creators in the medium, and with such a unique writing style does come an element of controversy. Still though, his run on Batman was one of the best for decades, and Multiversity - a book that every die hard fan of the DCU simply has to read - was an emphatic tribute to DC's ever-shrinking (now expanding?) multiverse. Seeing him tackle both topics again, then, should be more than enough cause to send many a fanboy's heart racing.

Morrison himself has referred to his Arkham Asylum sequel as his own "jump the shark moment", and his latest Wonder Woman book will see the Amazons fend off a Nazi invasion. Both are suitable reasons to get excited (one can attest to the power of seeing superheroes beating on Nazis), but both these announcements were a nice surprise to compliment some of the larger elements of this year's San Diego convention.
