Following on from their images of The Comedian and Nite Owl, Bleeding Cool posted a new image from the upcoming Watchmen prequels, this time featuring the Silk Spectre by Amanda Conner (The Pro, Power Girl). The authenticity of the piece is still in question but if it is real, it gives us a good indication of what the Silk Spectre mini series will be about. The picture is undeniably 60's, from the color scheme, to the go-go dress, to the broken protest sign on the ground. This suggests that the story will revolve around her early days as a hero, and will possibly touch on the beginning of her relationship with Doctor Manhattan (this would make sense as a way of getting the character into the prequels, as his origin has already being told in great detail and it would be pointless to give him his own mini series. Ditto for Rorschach). The character is a good choice, there is a lot of drama between her and her mother, the original Silk Spectre, and I would be disappointed if the Women Liberation movement, which started in 1964, wasn't referenced. It would be a great angle, especially since the Silk Spectre's line of work is mostly dominated by males. No release date is given yet for the mini series.
