For all the talk of the many, MANY changes made to various members of the Guardians when they were brought to the screen, there are a few members who weren't actually changed all that much, due to them being just fine as they were. Gamora is definitely one of those members.

Everything you know about her from the movies applies to her comics equivalent, despite a few details being left out, the essentials are there. She's the adopted daughter of Thanos, has since garnered a reputation as being the deadliest woman in the galaxy, and she runs with the Guardians partly out of it being the right thing to do, but also because she just likes being around them.

Things cut out from the movie version for self evident reasons include but are not limited to her being in a relationship with Adam Warlock at one point. They obviously cut this due to Adam just not showing up in the MCU yet (although he was teased in the post credit scene of Guardians 2).
