10 "Final" Entries In Movie Franchises (That Totally Weren't)
10. Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End
With the massive success of the first Pirates film (a success that turned Johnny Depp from quirky indie actor to box-office gold), it was no shock that Disney gave the world another. And because the second film ended with unanswered questions, it was a no-brainer to expect a third chapter to wrap out the series.
And boy, did it want us to believe it was over. The saga concluded, we met the parents of our heroes, and everything came full circle. They even literally called the film At World's End. All wrapped up, right?
Nope. Four years later, Disney decided there was still treasure to be found in the series. They series continued for two more entries (so far), with On Stranger Tides bringing back Johnny Depp but losing Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, and even director Gore Verbinski.
Rumor has it this pirate ship still hasn't sunk for the last time...
