7. Doctor Strange Borrows Iron Man's Origin Story
Calling Marvel movies familiar and formulaic is nothing new, but last year's acclaimed Doctor Strange took things to a new level by openly cribbing its origin story from the guy who started it all, Tony Stark.
So, Stephen Strange is an arrogant, wealthy, genius workaholic who is in love with a red-headed subordinate, has an incredulous black sidekick, learns important life lessons from a wise bald person, is involved in a life-changing accident which leads him to a radical treatment, and during his transformation into a superhero learns to be slightly less of a d***. Sound familiar?
Oh, and they've both got the same facial hair too. Though the latter half of the movie splinters off in a different direction, for all intents and purposes Doctor Strange's origin story is basically just "magical Iron Man".
Unlike a lot of the movies on this list, though, they totally got away with it.
