And finally, we have the most likely candidate to nab the gig: Aidan Turner. The 35-year-old Irish actor has earned strong acclaim for his charming performance in the series Poldark, and in addition to his obvious handsomeness, he cuts an unmistakably Timothy Dalton-esque figure which could be a welcome contrast to Craig's look.
Honestly there's very little to argue with here: he's got TV plaudits but few major film credits, he looks spectacular in a suit, and from his shirtless scenes in Poldark, he's clearly in incredible shape to boot.
If the producers want a name who will spark intrigued discussion yet not much outrage, while being wholly suitable on his own terms, they can't really go wrong with Turner. While perhaps not quite as inspired a pick as Dan Stevens, he'd be a terrific choice all the same.
