Ryan Guzman has only been acting for a few years, starting with 2012's Step Up Revolution, but he's already established himself as another Jai Courtney in the wings: blandly handsome but lacking any personality to distinguish himself at all. He's not appeared in a single critically-acclaimed movie to date, his best-reviewed effort being last year's Step Up: All In, while 2015 has seen his profile take a major, ahem, step up, but not in a good way. Firstly, there was the financially successful but panned J-Lo sleaze thriller The Boy Next Door (10%), followed by Beyond Paradise (which made no money and critics didn't even bother with), and the hysterically awful Jem and the Holograms reboot (19%), which both audiences and critics largely dismissed. He's the latest conveyor belt actor to land in our laps, young and handsome but also boasting less charisma than a cardboard cutout. He's appearing in Richard Linklater's Everybody Wants Some next year, which perhaps could signal a career turnaround, but otherwise, expect him to fade into obscurity pretty soon.
