10 Actors Who Keep Getting Miscast
10. Halle Berry
Halle Berry made a splash in the 90s and early 2000s. In between performances as Storm in the first two X-Men films, she won an Academy Award for the drama Monster’s Ball. It seemed like her career would just keep going hirer as she landed the lead in the standalone Catwoman film—then it turned out to be the cinematic equivalent of kitty litter.
Berry’s career never fully rebounded from that disaster. Although she returned as Storm for two more X-Men sequels, she has appeared mostly in universally lauded films like Cloud Atlas, Movie 43, and Kidnap. In 2018 she turned up in Kingsman: The Golden Circle, but was criminally underutilized.
For the last 15 years or so the roles she has been given just don’t showcase what made her appealing at the beginning of her career. She has unmistakable charm coupled with intelligence and toughness. Given her Oscar win for Monster’s Ball, she can bring on the dramatic feels when she wants to as well.
There is a glimmer of hope for Berry, though, as with last year’s John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum she nabbed a stunt-heavy role that she trained for furiously alongside costar Keanu Reeves. Her appearance in John Wick 3 was a return to what makes her one of the greatest actresses of her generation. More of this, please!
