Tom Riley plays the young Leonardo da Vinci on Showtime's Da Vinci's Demons, and earlier this year he was Robin Hood in the Doctor Who episode Robots Of Sherwood. But he really caught audience's attention a few years back for a number of reasons. First of all, he starred in Tom Stoppard's Arcadia on Broadway (an undertaking not for the weak of heart), and then he played a decidedly revised interpretation of Pride And Prejudice's Mr. Wickham in Lost In Austen. Really, all of his performances add up to the fact that he is fantastic at playing the very specific character type of the intellectual adventurer. He comes off as very smart, very handsome, and very funny. Who wouldn't be on board with that? If nothing else, he's an exciting young actor who is tremendous fun to watch and has the sort of screen and stage presence that draws eyes to him immediately. That's really all Fantastic Beasts is looking for, isn't it?
