10 Actors With Game-Changing Movie Roles Coming Up
4. Zac Efron - The Iron Claw
Zac Efron’s career has certainly borne fruit, with the actor making a conscious effort to move away from teen throb status toward becoming a serious and established actor within the industry. This is a credit to Zac himself, as history dictates that many before him have used their good looks for credibility and career continuity instead of their actual acting.
At 35-years-old, the former High School Musical standout is at a key stage of his career and still doesn’t seem to have found his respect amongst critics and audiences alike. His portrayal of Ted Bundy back in 2019, albeit far from Oscar-worthy, was eye-catching nonetheless and marked his state of intent. Since then though, the Californian hasn't quite been able to get out of first gear and has subsequently stalled as a result within serious roles. However, he is set to lead an impressive cast of some of Hollywood’s best up-and-coming names within A24’s The Iron Claw.
A drama focusing on the infamous Von Erich wrestling family, it feels like a project perfect for Zac to showcase his talent, alongside his already impressive physique fit for a wrestler, and remind those within the industry of what he can bring to the table if invited. If all goes well and Efron delivers, the role could mark a new chapter in his career of being a capable dramatic actor and he can kiss a Dirty Grandpa sequel goodbye.
