10 Amazing Horror Anthology Films You Have To See

3. V/H/S

It might seem like another cheap found footage film, but actually, some of the greatest horror moments of the past few years have been from the brilliant V/H/S franchise. With a lot of found footage movies like Paranormal Activity, there's a whole lot of filler scenes in the first two acts, with the excuse being that there would be filler on a person's home movie. Since V/H/S is an anthology, there's no need for any of that. Here's a film that cuts the crap and gives you the good stuff, keeping things brief, delivering the scares and then quickly moving on.

The premise is that a bunch of characters break into a house to track down a specific VHS tape, but they come upon a strange collection of footage showing murders and supernatural events. While searching for what they came for, the guys watch these tapes that are lying around, and the movie then launches into five segments of what they're seeing. You really feel at times like you aren't even watching a movie; you're watching creepy pieces of film that you aren't meant to be seeing, and there's a real sense of authenticity despite how out there it all is.

Along with its sequel, V/H/S is a delightfully insane grab bag of horror that even non-found footage fans should enjoy. Just stay far away from V/H/S Viral.
