10 Animated Movies That Desperately Need Sequels

By Jack Pooley /

4. Mr. Peabody & Sherman

Mr. Peabody and Sherman originally appeared in the Peabody's Improbable History segments from the classic animated Rocky and Bullwinkle Show, and were improbably adapted into a feature length movie released just a few weeks ago. With its subversive time-shifting story and surprisingly touching story about a boy's bond with his dog (who also happens to be his adoptive father), Peabody and Sherman managed to feel fresh and original despite a few lapses in time-travel logic. Perhaps we should give Fox a few months to take a breather before discussing a sequel, but given how terrible movies like The Nut Job are getting sequels commissioned before they've even opened at the box office, why wait? The movie was a critical success, and despite only being out in the US for 2 weeks, it has already broken even, so should prove to be a decent (if not completely outstanding) financial success in the long run.
