2. Ferngully: The Last Rainforest (1992)

Now, reader, you may be thinking that I have completely lost my mind by putting Ferngully on this list. It is a visual masterpiece with the strongest message of all: stop killing the rainforest! You may also be thinking, €œWhat movie?€. Whether you are the former or the latter, I can answer your initial response with one word: Wall-E. Yes, the Disney/Pixar love child focused around the end of the world and humans€™ incompetence. Why is Ferngully going extinct, though? Because our problem is no longer preserving the rainforest. It is preserving the Earth itself. Global warming has become the front runner concerning ecocentric issues. It used to be that saving the rainforest was what everyone cared about, but now it is much larger. It€™s terrible that our planet€™s livelihood is in jeopardy and we cannot focus on one issue over the other at any specific time. It€™s a shame! Perhaps if we had all been forced to watch Ferngully at a young age, the preservation of our planet€™s rainforest would be the only problem we didn€™t have. However, I do see teachers popping in their DVD copy of Wall-E over Ferngully in the future to teach children about the true destruction that we humans are capable of.
