Why It'd Be Awesome: Giant mechs fighting Godzilla? What's not to like!? Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim may have been rough around the edges in regard to character and script, but it delivered beautifully on its promises of seeing massive robots (called Jaegers) beating the snot out of sea-dwelling monsters called Kaijus. Garth Edwards' Godzilla similarly was imperfect though made for a mostly thrilling rendition of its iconic character, so you know what, why not pit them against one another? Hell, maybe even throw the Kaijus in there for kicks... Why It Might Not Work: Even in the unlikely event that such a project was greenlit, we'd be curious as to whether Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi would be interested in taking part, though ultimately, any likeable actors could essentially play the Jaeger pilots, especially if the movie distances itself somewhat from the characters and events established in del Toro's movie. In short: there aren't many reasons why something this ridiculous would not satisfy its target audience.
