And here's one prime example of that. Now, Jumanji was made way back in 1995, so perhaps we should go a little easy on it, but it's difficult to imagine that audiences even then could let this one go. Though seeing animals running loose throughout the streets was unquestionably cool, this particular sequence, in which a gang of monkeys break into a TV store and cause all manner of anarchy, has dated horribly. The key problem is that there's a major disparity between what's real and what isn't; the tone of their skin and fur doesn't match the environment they're in and the lighting is off. While we might not always be able to articulate this, our brain knows that something isn't right geometrically, and rejects what we're watching. Particularly awful is the monkey shoplifting a monitor from the store; it looks like something out of a terrible arcade game from the early 80s. Seriously - what is up with that animation?
