10 Most Awesome Puppets From Puppet Master

8. Tunneler

Joseph Sebastian was a soldier who was punished by the Nazis by being forced to work in the German salt mines until he died. His soul was then transferred to one of Toulon's puppets, Tunneler. It is never explained how Joseph's soul was transferred to Tunneler in the films or how he knew Toulon, and his backstory is only referenced on the back of a trading card. It is assumed that Joseph and Toulon were friends prior to the former's death, which is the case with the human incarnations of Jester and Pinhead. Tunneler ranks at number eight because of his namesake, the drill on top of his head. Because of this weapon, Tunneler has some of the more memorable and gruesome kills in the franchise's history. Unfortunately, Tunneler loses cool points as he's constantly the puppet that gets taken out of action. In order of timeline, in Puppet Master 9: Axis of Evil, Tunneler is kidnapped by the geisha Ozu, who is conspiring with the Nazis during World War II. In Puppet Master X: Axis Rising, Tunneler is seen being dissected and studied. In the early 90s, Tunneler is thrown against a wall, smashed by a lamp, and, again, dissected and studied ... this time by a group of paranormal investigators. While he may be quite the industrious little killer of his group, he's also had his rear-end handed to him on more than one occasion.
