RottenTomatoes Score: 25% The Plot: Meerkat Billy (James Corden), lion Socrates (Stephen Fry) and all their animal friends are dismayed that the annual flood hasn't arrived, and after discovering that humans have built a dam to supply a nearby leisure resort, set out to bring the dam down. Why It Sucks: Despite being based on an acclaimed 1949 book, Animals United is a largely witless, charmless animated film that's clearly been made on the cheap to boot. The German-made film dubs English voices over for non-German audiences, but the lip sync hasn't been tweaked to accommodate it, and the overall quality of the animation is sub-par at best. All of the cast are phoning in an easy payday here, and who can really blame them? The movie's political message, while well-intended, is ham-fisted and obnoxiously blatant, though at least for Serkis, his role as Charles the Cockerel clearly didn't take up more than a few hours of his time, and it's not like anybody really saw the movie anyway...
