10 Awful Movies Vikings Actors Want Us To Forget
10. Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Bishop Heahmund) - Alexander
Season Four of Vikings introduced Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Bishop Heahmund. Despite being a man of the cloth, Heahmund is a womanising drunkard with no compassion for pagans. Constantly changing sides with the Vikings while struggling with his own faith, Heahmund is a fascinatingly conflicted character.
It might be the best work Meyers has ever done, which is one thing that cannot be said about his role in Alexander (also known as Bad Wigs: The Movie). Although Oliver Stone's biography of the Macedonian emperor was expected to be a historic epic in the same vein as Braveheart, Alexander was slaughtered by critics. The actors keep switching accents, the performances are dire, and the story moves at a glacier's pace. It's actually quite an achievement that Stone directed such a boring film about one of the most fascinating people to ever live.
Meyers's performance as Alexander's lover, Cassander, isn't particularly captivating but you can't really blame him. Because of the shoddy script, nobody comes out of this disaster looking good. Interestingly, John Kavanagh, who portrays The Seer in Vikings, also stars in the film.
