5. The Kingpin

Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin in the Daredevil TV series was controversial, but it was definitely startling. The current MCU Kingpin is a well-realised and deeply conflicted soul marrying a love of high culture with a murderous temper and ruthless grip on power.

In the comic books, Wilson Fisk is the most successful and characterful of the many organised crime villains faced by the New York-based heroes. He is a huge and powerful ass-whupper, but his real danger lies in his cunning and charisma, as well as his inevitable legion of highly punchable goons.

The Kingpin's role in a Spider-Man movie would not just be as an antagonist, but as a force to bring together several villains to face down the web-headed wonder, a rogue's gallery of Spidey's most memorable, dangerous and plain weird enemies.

All Fisk needs to do is put a price on Spider-Man's head, and wait for the freaks and monsters to walk in the door.
